Romanodinium areolatum
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Romanodinium areolatum Balteş, 1971, p.9, pl.3 (not pl.5), figs.1–2. Holotype: designated by Balteş (1971), but not clearly related to an illustration. Age: Early Pliocene.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locus typicus: Romania
Stratum typicum: Pontian, Early Pliocene
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Baltes, 1971, p.9]:
Description - Test is subspherical, without tabulation, hyaline, with rare, prominent, generally longitudinal folds. It has on the apical side a wide, pylom-like aperture, with no operculum. Antapical half is covered with a wide, transparent, non-homogeneous membrane, which in some specimens is perforate, with a scalloped appearance.
Dimensions - Test diameter 45 to 50 μ. Diameter of "pylom" 40 to 45 μ. Width of antapical membrane, about 30 to 35 μ.
Frequency - Moderate (about 80 specimens have been observed).
Age - Lower Pliocene (Pontian).
Size: Range: central body diameter 45-50 µm, diameter of archeopyle 40-45 µm, width of "antapical membrane" 30-35 µm.
