Original description: [Cookson and Eisenack, 1965]:

Description:
Shell spherical, firm-walled, with an apical and antapical prominence and a number of irregularly distributed wart-like areas of variable size and construction. A smooth girdle-like zone and a similar unornamented longitudinal area may be indicated on the dorsal and ventral surfaces respectively. The shell opens by a sub-apical archeopyle.

Modified description:

Stover and Evitt, 1978, p. 139:

Synopsis: Cysts proximochorate, acavate, body subspherical, bearing generally 14 to 16 short hollow intratabular processes, which are closed distally; no processes in paracingular area; paratabulation gonyaulacacean, indicated by processes; archeopyle precingular, Type P.

Description:
Shape: Body subspherical.
Wall Relationships: Endophragm and periphragm appressed between processes.
Wall Features: No parasutural features. Intratabular processes short, conical to cylindrical, closed distally; periphragm imperfectly reticulate to vermiculate.
Paratabulation: Indicated by intratabular processes; gonyaulacacean, formula: 1-3`, 6", 5```, 1p, 1````; the five postcingular processes are interpreted as corresponding to plates 2``` to 6```.
Archeopyle: Precingular, Type P (3" only); operculum free.
Paracingulum: Position inferred by the absence of processes.
Parasulcus: Not expressed.
Size: Intermediate.

Affinities:
Aireiana differs from Conosphaeridium in lacking paracingular processes; it differs from Cordosphaeridium and Kleithriasphaeridium in the same way, as well as in having distally closed and generally shorter processes.
