Taxonomic senior synonym: Bitectatodinium, by implication in Harland (1977b, p.93), who considered the "type species" of Caledonidinium, Caledonidinium vermiculatum, to be a taxonomic junior synonym of Bitectatodinium tepikiense.

Diagnosis:
Test with a circular outline and no projections. Wall thick and two layered. Inner layer thin and compact with solid bases for the radial rods (resembling the columellae of pollen) which penetrate the outer layer. Outer layer thick and less dense between the radial rods which penetrate to the surface. Archeopyle precingular formed by the loss of two plates. No tabulation visible.
