Taxonomic senior synonym: Ellipsoidictyum, according to Sarjeant (1976a, p.23).
Type: Cookson and Eisenack, 1960b, pl.39, fig.12, as Dictyopyxis areolata.

Description:
Shell elongate with rounded ends and a reticulate wall; a division into epitheca and hypotheca and the presence of a `girdle` may be suggested by the more regular shape and arrangement of the meshes at or near the equator.
The shell opens by the detachment of one of the ends.
