Mitteilungen der Bayerischen Staatssammlung für Paläontologie und historische Geologie, Heft 34: 3-33 Fechner, 1989, published data of a quantitative analysis of dinoflagellate-cyst assemblages from the Lower Cenomanian of the R³then section (southern M³nsterland/Germany). These data are used for new calculations according to the method of Below and Kirsch, 1994. The relative abundances of various taxa of different rank in a biologically defined classification scheme are analysed in detail in order to find responses of dinoflagellate cysts within the section to changing environmental conditions during this Lower Cenomanian transgression event. A lot of significant trends of decrease and increase of relative abundances of such dinoflagellate-cyst taxa connected with the progressive development of the transgression can be observed with this new method contrary to poor results using the traditional calculation only.
