Dinoflagellate cysts from the Upper Cretaceous of southern Spain: new morphological and taxonomic observations

Riegel, W. and Sarjeant, W.A.S., 1982: Dinoflagellate cysts from the Upper Cretaceous of southern Spain: new morphological and taxonomic observations. Neues Jahrbuch f³r Geol. und Pal., Abhandlungen vol.162 pp.286-303 pl.8 Abstract: Based on a restudy of type material a revised diagnosis is presented for Andalusiella mauthei Riegel, noting several new features for which morphological terms are here introduced. "Acrocavate" derotes cysts with an endophragm extending well into the horns, "epistomia" are plugs blocking the horn bases and "crepaturae" cracks suggesting paraplate dissociation. The species Deflandrea boloniensis Riegel and D. gaditana Riegel are reassigned to the genus Phelodinium Stover and Evitt and given new diagnoses. Chytroeisphaeridia baetica Riegel is shown to have a precingular archaeopyle and emended accordingly.
