Mikroorganismen aus jurassischen und kretazischen Saurier-Gewöllen

Wetzel, W., 1967; Mikroorganismen aus jurassischen und kretazischen Saurier-Gewöllen. Zeitschrift der deutschen geol. Gesellsch. vol.116 pp.867-874 pl.3 With a minimum of material and time a rich association of microfossils could be extracted from dinosaur casts, which present themselves as natural concentrates. One finds not only marine plankton, but also other fossil structures which, because of their delicacy, are otherwise hardly preserved. The finds concern 1. a cast from the Middle Dogger of Bielefeld and 2. two casts from upper Cretaceous Quiriquina beds of Chile. The Dogger material contains, apart from many already known plankton forms, at least 3 new dinoflagellate species. The plankton fron the Chilean Maastrichtian are the first to be extracted from southern America which can be compared to known forms from the northern hemisphere.
