Wilson, G.J., 1967; Some new species of Lower Tertiary dinoflagellates from Mcmurdo Sound, Antarctica. New Zealand Journal of Botany vol.5 pp.57-83 Seven new species, namely Deflandrea antarctica, D. macmurdoensis, D. assymmetrica, D. distincta, Spinidinium aperturum, S. rotundum and Cordosphaeridium filosum, are described from Tertiary erratics found at Black Island and Minna Bluff. The presence is recorded of several other species of fossil dinoflagellates and acritarchs prveiously described from regions outside Antarctica. Microfloras from the two localities show considerable differences in the relative abundances of major species.
