Dinoflagellate cysts from the Cretaceous/ Tertiary boundary of El Kef, Northwest Tunisia

Brinkhuis, H. and Leereveld, H., 1988. Dinoflagellate cysts from the Cretaceous/Tertiary boudary sequence of El Kef, northwest Tunisia. Rev. Palaeobot. Palynol., 56: 5-19 Rich Dinoflagellate cyst associations have been studied from the Cretaceous/Tertiary (K/T) boundary interval of the El Haria section, near El Kef, northwest Tunisia. No sharp qualitative changes in the dino- flagellate cyst association coincide with that boundary. A latest Maas- trichtian-earliest Danian (unnamed) interval and an early Danian Danea californica Biozone is recognized. The biostratigraphic value of the first appearance datum of Danea californica for discriminating between latest Maastrichtian and the earliest Danian associations is supported.
