Fossil dinoflagellate taxa by Chinese authors, 1978-1984

Chen, Yowyuh, Harland, R., Stover, L.E. and Williams, G.L., 1988; Fossil dinoflagellate taxa by Chinese authors, 1978-1984 This paper presents the results of a systematic analysis of twenty-two organic-walled microplankton genera described by Chinese authors between 1978 and 1984, and identified initially as fossil dinoflagellates. Of the twenty-two genera, we recognize nine as valid dinoflagellate genera (Apiculadinium, Bellatudinium, Bohaidina, Bosedinia, Lacunodinium, Parabohaidina, Pseudokomewuia, Spiniferopsis and Suibindia) and emend one of them (Bosedinia); treat six as junior synonyms (Bipolaribucina, Hashenia, Paraireiana, Sanshuia, Sinocysta and Stomodinium); acknowledge Bosea He Cheng-quan and Qian Ze-shu (1979) as a junior homonym of Bosea Srivastava (1975); and consider five genera as belonging to the Acritarcha (Conicoidium, Mirificysta, Paucibucina, Prominangularia and Tetranguladinium). We do not provide a detailed analysis for Pseudostephodinium because of insufficient information.
