Cerebrocysta powellii
Cerebrocysta powellii (manuscript name), Zevenboom and Santarelli in Zevenboom, 1995
Name not validly published: considered a manuscript name by the authors.
Holotype: Zevenboom, 1995, pl.7, figs.19-20.
Type locality: Cassinasco section, Tertiary Piedmont Basin, North Italy.
Type stratum: Cassinasco Formation.
Occurences: Italy (this study) and the Norwegian Sea (Manum et al., 1989).
Total stratigraphical range: Early Langhian through base Serravallian (this study).
Age: early Langhian-earliest Serravallian.

Original description: [Zevenboom, 1995]:
Diagnosis:
A large, very thick-walled species of Cerebrocysta with low crests bordering small lumina.
Description:
A large, thick-walled subspherical species of Cerebrocysta. The crest have a relatively low relief and form small rectangular to square lumina with a maximum width of 4 by 4 µm.
The archaeopyle is precingular probably formed by the loss of 3". The archaeopyle margin is straight and smooth. Sometimes the operculum remains attached.
Dimensions:
Height: 60(75)85µm; Width: 60(75)80µm; Wall thickness: 2-4 µm. N=40.
Affinities/Discussion:
Cerebrocysta powellii differs from all other Cerebrocysta spp. by its large size and its thick wall.
